School Meals

Universal Free School Meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to receive a free school meal.

The school has been allocated funding from the Government and has a full working kitchen on site where the meals are prepared and cooked.

The provider for the Free School Meals is an established company called Taylor Shaw. Please visit their website www.taylorshaw.com for more information.

Information from Taylor Shaw states that the menus meet, and in most cases exceed, the Government Nutritional Standards for Schools.

There are several options on the menu each day which will include vegetarian and meat / fish options –  meat is either poultry or lamb and both Halal and Non Halal meat dishes will be provided. There is a choice of vegetables and options from the daily salad bar, a pudding or fruit/yoghurt along with a drink of fresh water.

It is essential that the school has up to date information on any specific requirements for meals and any allergies or medical conditions related to food. You will need to provide a letter from your doctor specifying allergies, intolerances or specific medical needs related to food.

The menus run on a three week cycle and will be sent home along with an order form for you to indicate your choice of school meal or whether your child will have a lunch from home.

Please talk to your child about the choices and their likes and dislikes so you can adapt your selection for the next cycle.

If you are in receipt of any of the benefits listed below please apply for your free school meal entitlement as the school will then receive ‘Pupil Premium Funding’ to further support your child in school. Pupil Premium Funding goes to the school whether your child has a meal from school or brings a packed lunch from home and is an important source of funding.
