You can apply to a Harrow Nursery class after your child reaches the age of two.  Admission into Nursery classes takes place in September.  Local education authority (LEA) maintained nursery schools and classes are attached to LEA infant and primary schools in Harrow. They offer early education to children aged between 3 and 5 years old. Children are admitted for three terms and places are usually part-time, either mornings or afternoons (each session is three hours).  If more applications are received than there are places in the Nursery, places will be offered to children in the following order:

  1. Looked After children or previously Looked After children by a Local Authority, in date of birth order.
  2. Children referred by Harrow’s Special Educational Needs Assessment and Review Service.
  3. Other children.

If, under any criterion, there are more children than there are places remaining in the nursery, then the available places will be offered to children who live closest. Distance will be measured in a straight line from home to the centre point of the school site. To find out which are your local Harrow schools, you can go to

Nursery attendance does not count when deciding admissions to an Infant School. Attending our Nursery will not give you the right to a place in Reception in this school.

If a community school is oversubscribed, the below criteria are used to determine which children have priority for admission.

  1. A ‘looked after child’ or a child who was previously looked after
  2. Children attending the attached Infant School (Junior Schools only)
  3. Children for whom it is essential to be admitted to a specific school because of special circumstances to do with specific medical and/or social needs
  4. Medical reasons relevant to parent(s)
  5. Sibling link
  6. Distance

Please see the Harrow Primary Schools’ Admissions arrangements for full details of the criteria and details of the Tie Breaker arrangements.

Children will now automatically move on to Year 3 at the end of Year 2 as we will be an all through school from April 2019. There is no longer a need to apply to the Junior School.

Transfer to High School will be at the end of Year 6.
